1911-22 Vintage Easter Postcards (3) - all with flowers - Used
Here's a pretty group of 3 Easter postcards featuring flowers. The first has a clump of multicolored crocus and wishes "A hearty Easter greeting brought by the warm soft breezes of Springtime". It's marked in the lower left corner "865C". It's marked on the back "OWEN CARD PUB. CO. ELMIRA, N.Y.".
The second has a cross framing a country church scene, surrounded by small white flowers, and wishes "Easter Greeting". Its marked on the back"SERIES 564 - MIDLAND PUB. CO. N.Y."
The third features a yellow and brown butterfly and a branch of small pink flowers. It has an "Easter Greetings" verse which reads: "On Easter morn, when you arise, May sunshine greet your smiling eyes; And may its radiance with you stay Till every mist is burned away." No publisher is indicated, but the back has a tiny number "560" in the lower left corner.
Size: Each approx. 5½" x 3½"
Date: The first card has no copyright date but is postmarked 1919 from Washington, D.C.
The second card has a 1911 copyright date and is postmarked 1914 from Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The third card has no copyright date but is postmarked 1922 from Washington, D.C.
Condition: Fair to good, I'd say. All three have obviously been postally used and are moderately soiled. One has multiple creases and a crumpled corner and two have lost their original postage stamps over the years. (Please see scans.)
