1940s Lookout Mountain, CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee - LINEN Postcard
Here's a very nice unused linen postcard captioned "Lookout Mountain as seen from the West, Chattanooga, Tennessee". In the top margin it's numbered "135" and in the bottom margin "69726", along with "Photo Cline Studios". On the back it indicates that it was "PUBLISHED ONLY BY W. M. CLINE CO., CHATTANOOGA, TENN." and "TICHNOR QUALITY VIEWS" MADE ONLY BY TICHNOR BROS., INC., BOSTON, MASS.
The description on the back reads:
Lookout Mountain is 2350 feet above sea level. Two fine paved highways lead to its summit. On the plateau-like top is located the incorporated town of Lookout Mountain, -- a city of beautiful homes in a magnificent setting. The point of the mountain has been made a National Park, and here is located the Battlefield Above the Clouds, Umbrella Rock, New York's $100,000 Peace Monument, and the view of famous Moccasin Bend.
Size: 3½" x 5½"
Date: Not dated but appears to be from the 1940s, give or take a decade
Condition: Fine, I'd say. The card is unused with only very slight edge wear and a small strip of toning along the back right edge (see scans).
