Shaolin Routine Six Dahong Quan is one of the traditional ShongShan Shaolin Wushu routines. In the latter stage of Qing Dynasty, Shaolin Wushu-exercising monks, had visited the whole country and taught the first three Dahong boxing routines among folks. Through long-term exercising, regional exercisers got their original opinions and revised these routines according to their own traditional martial arts skills. thus new routines were created one after another and still named Shaolin Dahong Boxing. Latter on these newly created Dahong boxing routines were brought back to the Shaolin Temple and practiced far and wide by the monks who renamed them routine four, routine five, routine six, etc. in order of arrival At present there are more than 13 Dahong boxing routines, which differ from one another and have their own strong points each. Its features are that the frames are slightly great, the postures are stretchy and esthetic, the hard force is used mostly here the movements are simple and unadorned, the structure is well-knit the attack and defense are arranged rationally, it contains vigorous as well as gentle movements, temping toughness with gentleness.
