The stock-car racing accident that killed his partner changed Ed Stevens from a hungry and promising young driver to a moderately wealthy young man with no desire to continue competition on the stock-car circuit. It wasn't until several aimless months passed that Ed could think about racing again, and his restlessness led him to Europe and Formula I road racing.
