Lenin and Electrification / Communism equals Soviet Power plus the Electrification of the Entire Country
Leningrad 1925

Vladimir Ilich Lenin is a universally recognised historical figure. A confirmed Utopian, a talented and robust leader who, as politician, achieved almost all his goals. As an inspired theoretician, Lenin had studied revolutionary history very closely. Along with a group of supporters his master-stroke was to bring about the Russian Revolution and take power over an enormous country. Furthermore he, his comrades-in-arms and followers were able to hang on to that power, create a whole new political system as well as unite diverse nations into one social entity.
Leninism is recognised the world over and has a great many followers. However neither Lenin nor his successors were ever able to achieve either of their two main goals: the victory of their ideas on a worldwide scale and the successful building of a just society based on universal equality. That will yet remain a task for future builders of an ideal world.
“He Lives On!” Even today, Lenin is revered by an enormous number of people in various countries. Posters with Lenin's image began to be printed during his lifetime representing a weapon in the arsenal of ideological propaganda of the Soviet State. Lenin entreated, directed, showed the way and was even pictured sweeping, broom in hand. And so it went on, until the USSR ceased to exist. I cannot say for sure, but I would guess that the final Soviet poster ever produced would have depicted “The Leader of the World Proletariat”. None of the country's rulers ever appeared on posters after their death. Lenin, however, has remained an icon of that epoch.
