U.S. BUERMANN SPURS
Offered for your consideration is a pair of high-grade solid nickel officers spurs. These spurs are inscribed on the arms: "NEVER RUST" a 5 point star, "MADE IN NEW ENGLAND", and "STAR STEEL SILVER". They have no rotating rowels or straps. The left arm has a small crack at the buttonhole on the right spur.
U.S. Cavalry Spur by Star Steel Silver
pre-1926
This is a Star Steel Silver Cavalry spur. The solid nickel alloy was patented by German immigrant August Buermann. All of his spurs were stamped/ engraved with the Star symbol. In 1926, the Buermann company was purchased by one of the big 3 spur manufacturers, North and Judd. North and Judd used an Anchor as their stamp, and after the purchase, spurs were stamped with both the Star and Anchor symbols. This spur only has the Star and therefore is pre-1926 and more rare.
