When tested against similar towels for softness and feel, absorbency, durability, and color fastness, these 100% Egyptian cotton towels earned the top overall rating and were chosen overwhelmingly by panelists as the softest towel tested.
Thanks to the rich soil and humid weather that create optimal cotton-growing conditions in the Nile River Valley, these towels have especially delicate and long cotton fibers (more than twice the length of those found in generic cotton) spun into ultra fine yarns. The result is a silkier, softer, more lustrous, and more resilient towel fiber than others.
Egyptian cotton’s density lends these towel s, usually available only in select specialty linen stores, a particularly high weight (600 grams per meter) and excellent absorbency. In our tests, they absorbed up to 15 1/3 oz. of water per square foot, over 2 4 oz. more than one of the other tested towels. The towels exhibited minimal pilling and no loose edges after 10 washes, and remained larger than other tested towels after repeated drying (slight shrinkage is normal).
