Published by John C Nimmo [London] in 1889 The Vicar of Wakefield has an ornate thick Victorian binding that is profusely illustrated to both the front board and back board by V.A. Poirson with people on horseback and dancing in 18th century costume.
The binding is in Very Good condition with the boards and spine being worn but the decorations to both the front and back boards being bright.
There are 291 printed pages, all edges gilt, and packed with 114 colour illustrations by V.A. Poirson. The pages are in remarkably clean condition.
This is a highly collectable edition of Oliver Goldsmith The Vicar of Wakefield that will make a wonderful addition to any Oliver Goldsmith antiquarian book collection, or a children’s illustrated antiquarian book collection.
