DEXTER Original Poster * MICHAEL C. HALL * Showtime 2' x 3' Rare 2007 Mint New Condition. Large Wall Size measures 2' foot wide by 3' foot high. Original Official Advance Release Poster for the Sept. 30th 2007 Premier of the Showtime Original " Dexter " created by James Manos Jr. and based on the novel by Jeff Lindsay. Dexter stars Michael C. Hall as serial killer Dexter Morgan, who works as a forensics analyst specializing in bloodstain pattern analysis for the Miami-Dade Police Department. The series is based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. Orphaned at the age of three and harboring a traumatic secret, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) was adopted by a Miami police officer who recognized his homicidal tendencies and taught him to channel his gruesome passion for dissection in a "constructive" way: by killing only heinous criminals (such as child molesters, mob assassins, and serial killers of the innocent) who have slipped through the justice system. To satisfy his interest in blood and to facilitate his own crimes, Dexter works as a blood spatter analyst for the Miami police. Although his drive to kill is unflinching, he is easily able to emulate normal emotions and keep up his appearance as a socially-responsible human being. He is well-liked by his work colleagues, and is always attempting to balance a seeming normal exterior to those around him, masking an inner struggle between a need for a socially acceptable existence, and his psychotic need to satisfy the urges of his own " dark passenger". Dexter garnered much critical acclaim as well as it's share of controversy, and won a number of awards, including a Golden Globe Award for Hall as lead actor. Dexter aired on Showtime from October 1, 2006 to September 22, 2013 ; The original broadcast of the series finale—shown at 9 p.m. on September 22, 2013—drew 2.8 million viewers, the largest overall audience in Showtime's history.
