Victorian Trade Card - Arbuckle Brothers Coffee Company - "THE SLIDE" (#80)

This is one of a series of 50 cards issued by Arbuckles', probably in the late 1880's, depicting birds (#51-#69) and other miscellaneous subjects (#70-#100), and advertising their "Ariosa" coffee. This one shows a young boy with a mortarboard cap and a flowing red scarf, sliding along on a patch of ice, pulling his rather reluctant dog behind him.
The back shows the familiar Arbuckles' factory scene with buildings, dock, railroad cars, and a ship.

DATE: Not dated, but likely late 1880s
LITHOGRAPHER: Not identified
CONDITION: Fair, I'd say. This card has some streaks of light brown staining on both front and back. It also has a chunk of the upper left edge missing, accompanied by a semicircular patch of surface paper loss on the front. (Please see scans.)
