This is a boxed set of two first edition plates from Anna Perenna. The plates included are one titled "June Dream" and "Chun Li - At The Pond". Both plates are in excellent condition, most likely never removed from the box. Each box has a plastic lid and the two boxes fit inside the outer box for storage.
'June Dream' is the first companion art plate in a suite of four plates entitled "Enchanted Gardens". 'June Dream' was originally created as an oil painting especially for this series by artist Carol C. Burgues. This edition was limited to 5000, and this plate is number 1108. It was produced in 1978 by Anna Perenna, Inc. The plate measures 9 7/8 inches in diameter. Included is the certificate of authenticity, the registration card and a brochure about the plate.
"Chun Li At The Pond" is the first companion art plate by Dr. Irving Carl Burgues (Carol's husband). It was the first edition in the "Oriental Tranquility" series of art plates. This artwork was originally created as an oil painting especially for this series of plates. This plate measure 10 inches in diameter. It is also in excellent condition, and includes the certificate of authenticity and the registration card. This was also produced in an edition of 5000, and this plate also bears the number 1108 out of 5000.
As I mentioned, these plates were most likely never displayed or taken out of the box except for inspection. They both feature gilding and beautiful colors. I believe that this set originally retailed for $140.00. They really are beautiful plates!
