Text is clean and unmarked, binding tight. Maps of California inside front and back cover, cover itself is board and very clean. Emanuel's took a map of California and drew lines north and south and blocked the middle area of the state from the Ocean to Nevada. In this title he covers the history of this area both coastal and the mostly forgotten interior of the Great Central Valley. Time frame is from Drakes famous landing to the Loma Prieta Earthquake in 1989 in which San Francisco and Oakland were locked in battle for the world series and the bay bridge collapsed, highways pancaked killing several and fire again took over San Francisco. 206 pages, Bibliography, Index.
