The MC8700 is a PCI Express MiniCard for broadband customers using either GSM or W-CDMA networks, allowing them to access the Internet anywhere in the world there’s cellular coverage. Sierra Wireless claims download packet speeds of up to 21 Mbps and upload speeds of 5.76 Mbps. Also, as with other Sierra AirPrime MC modules, the MC8700 has W-CDMA receive diversity. However, as of December of 2009, the MC8700 is the only AirPrime module that does not have GPS. It is supported on the Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Linux operating systems.
