The Runway of Life
To be a winner in life and in business you must act like a winner, and what better way to do that than to emulate the habits of highly successful people.
The Runway of Life The Runway of Life
As one of my valued mentors, legendary Vancouver businessman and philanthropist Joe Segal has influenced many decisions in my life over the past 20 years. On one occasion, he said to me, “Many people think of life as a road or a highway . . . But if you think about it, a highway can go on forever, and life isn’t like that. Life is more like a runway – because at some point you’re going to run out of asphalt.”
Joe’s simple words struck a chord. I realized that none of us knows exactly how much time we have left on our runway of life. And while it can be frightening to consider how few years may be left to us, it can also be motivating – because what matters is how we use our remaining time on this earth.
As you read through these pages, I hope that, in addition to Joe’s pearls of wisdom, the inspiring stories and ideas I have gathered here will resonate with you and help to illuminate your own unique path along the runway of life.
