Clotrimazole has a broad spectrum of activity which allows it to effectively eliminate a large number of fungi, responsible for various skin infections (dermatomycosis) and genitalia including vaginal candidiasis affecting the vaginal area (vaginitis). Vaginal candidiasis is an infection caused by a fungus called Candida that occurs with some frequency in women. This fungus (Candida) is found in the human skin, feces and vagina and in certain situations can become pathogenic. The symptoms of vaginal candidiasis are pruritus (itching), flushing, whitish discharge and unpleasant odor. Gino-Canesten vaginal cream is used to treat genital infections located in the vagina, vulva or penis caused by a fungus called Candida: Recurrent vaginal candidiasis with previous medical diagnosis. This condition is characterized by whitish vaginal discharge, accompanied by vaginal pruritus (itching) and usually more pronounced before menstruation. Local treatment of infections of the genital lips (vulva) and adjacent areas, as well as inflammation of the glans and foreskin in the penis, of the sexual partner (Balanic candidiasis). Dosage and duration of treatment: Internal Use: In vaginal Candidiasis should be used 1 time per day for 6 days at bedtime. Insert 1 applicator full of vaginal cream as deeply as possible into the vagina once a day at bedtime for 6 consecutive days. It is recommended that the application be done with the patient lying on her back and with her legs bent.
