  • Description
Here's a nice pair of vintage scenic postcards featuring the Mackinac Bridge, in Michigan, touted as the "World's Longest Suspension Bridge". One shows an aerial view of the bridge, while the other provides a water-level view.

The description on the back of one mentions that the bridge was opened to traffic on November 1, 1957.

The cards are identified as "Plastichrome", by COLOURPICTURE PUBLISHERS, Inc., Boston 15, Mass. The photos are credited to Lucy Gridley and the cards were published by the Hiawatha Card Co. of Ypsilanti, Mich. They carry the code numbers "P23823" and "P23824" at the top center.

Size: approx. 3½" x 5½"

Date: Not dated, but probably from the late 1950s, certainly no later than the early 1960s.

Condition: Good, I'd say. The cards are unused, with very only slight edge wear. The colors on the fronts are fresh and bright, but the backs have some foxing and rubbed areas. (Please see scans.) The corners have mild diagonal impressions due to storage in a standard postcard album.

MULTIPLE ITEM SHIPPING DISCOUNT: I will ship up to 4 cards for the single base shipping charge shown. For purchases of more than 4 cards, the shipping charge will increase by just a small increment for every 4 additional cards.
