Post Mortem RPPC Beautiful Lady Candles Flowers Women Viewing Coffin Sunlight
Real Photo Post Card Post Mortem
Beautiful Lithuanian Woman laid out in traditional manner
Title: Real Photo Post Card of a viewing in Lithuania.
Description: This is a stunning image of a beautiful woman laid out in traditional style. The woman is dressed in white finery and laid out on boards in a sunny window of her home. Bright Spring sunlight streams in the window illuminating the pots of fresh hyacinths and tulips swathed in white that surround her
This lovely setting shows four tall lit tapers, with halos of light around the flames. The fine, sheer, white lace covering the woman is woven with the words Ruhe Sanft (Rest peacefully), white crosses and palm leaves. On the wall by her head, flooded by sunlight, is a picture of Christ the Sacred Heart, against the far back wall is a picture that looks like Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane.
One of the most enchanting features of this wonderful photo is that both of the women watching over the deceased have gentle, dreamy smiles on their faces rather that the sad faces seen on most mourners in traditional post mortem photographs.
Source: This vintage RPPC comes from a small estate collection of Lithuanian funeral postcards belonging to a funeral director. Not all of the cards have identifying marks.
Era/Style: 1930's - RPPC Real Photo Post Card - Deckle Edge card
Postally used: No
Condition: Excellent Note: Pink watermark, Nosey Parkers Postcards, is not on the actual card.
