Julia G.
Born in 1949 in St. Petersburg, Russia, to a military officer and a clothing and interior designer, Julila G. grew up accustomed to a combination of art and discipline that proved helpful in pursuing her professional career as a painter and designer. Her family began giving her lessons in painting and design when she was only three years old and between 1960 and 1970 she studied privately with some of the greatest Russian artists. On the insistence of her family Julia studied at the Leningrad State College of Industrial Management where she studied accounting, but she also retained her passion for the arts.
After graduating Julia moved to Moscow to work in the film industry. Her artistic talent, beauty, and charisma made her the center of social and cultural innovation at the time and well-known musicians and artists often visited her private home. Julia worked collaboratively and independently with these artists, designing clothes and painting while working on feature films. During the mid-1990s she decided to focus all her artistic efforts on painting, preferring to use oil on canvas. Julia’s artwork has received national acclaim and commercial success while still receiving the respect and admiration of her peers.
