Item offered is an uncommonly rare 1930s Aircastle 6 volt car radio in excellentuntested condition. I consider this unit rare as there is no information found online pertaining to this unit. This radio was part of a lot of radios I acquired and was pretty much complete missing only the volume and tuner knobs. I decided to perform a cosmetic restoration of this unit as the interior of the radio was completely intact with original tubes and original Jensen speaker. A detailed cleaning and lubrication was performed on the working mechanism. I suspect it is 6 volt positive ground. The tubes have 6 volt numbers on them. The unit appears to be complete but I have no way of testing so it will need proper servicing before use.The outer case was completely stripped of paint, primed with red oxide primer and refinished with Krylon Dark Bronze hammered paint. The dial face was cleaned and retains the original molded clear plastic lens. The brass trim on the front was hand polished and repainted and retains the original radio call letter inserts with new lenses. The pushbuttons were removed, straightened and cleaned after lubricating the tuner mechanism. The knobs are not original to the radio but are what I feel would be close to the originals for a radio of this period. With the mounting bracket made onto the top of the fascia and stud on the bottom rear, it is obvious this radio would mount under the dash. Having the speaker built in, I'm pretty much convinced this would be termed as an aftermarket radio- perhaps one of the first made for multiple applications or original vehicles not supplied with a radio from the factory. This radio is very deserving of a proper servicing and installation of any older classic vehicle. I have enjoyed it sitting on a shelf since the work was performed. Price reflects the work involved with the cosmetic restoration performed..
