Jerry Cooper Vintage NBC Radio Movie Actor 1939 Autographed Letter in Envelope
Authentically signed letter from vintage radio singer and actor Jerry Cooper (1909-?). It dates from 1939.
Born in New Orleans, Jerry Cooper arrived in New York in 1933 via freight train/hobo style. The baritone was later heard over the Musical Toast program (NBC-Red Network) and also appeared with the Ray Block Orchestra and Sally Singer and the Debonaires. His films credits include The Film Follies (1935), Hollywood Hotel (1937) and Hot Rhythm (1944).
Letter is on Jerry Cooper stationery: "...Well, when the program, the new one, is set, I will send along the complete details and I hope that once more I will be able to count on you as a loyal radio friend..." It's boldly signed in blue fountain pen "Jerry Cooper." Comes in matching Jerry Cooper/National Broadcasting Company envelope postmarked New York, N.Y., Dec. 21, 1939.
Letter is in crisp, near mint condition – as fresh as the day it was sent from the Big Apple 77 years ago. No doubt as to authenticity and provenance.
This item comes directly from the estate of Charles "Chaw" Mank Jr. (1902-1985), noted songwriter, author, bandleader, record producer, sheet music publisher, psychic, radio personality, silent movie theater organist, world champion pen pal, inveterate collector and Hollywood/music fan club pioneer.
