TOPS DRIVE IN Restaurants - Chicago, Illinois (suburban) - 1960s Matchbook Cover
Description: Here's a nice vintage standard-sized matchbook cover advertising the Tops Drive In chain of restaurants, which had several locations in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. The outside has a drawing of "BIG BOY" holding up "America's Favorite Hamburger".
The inside touts the restaurants as the "Home of the BIG BOY Hamburger". It also lists the 4 locations in existence at that time, in La Grange, Berwyn, Downer's Grove, and Morton Grove.
Produced by The Diamond Match Co., Springfield, Mass.
Actual Size: approx. 2" x 1.5" (closed)
Date: Not dated, but I'm fairly certain it's from the 1960s
Condition: Good, I'd say. The cover is only lightly soiled but the striker strip has been used and there's also some damage to the striker strip area from the careless removal of the staple that originally held the matches. There's also an additional set of staple holes which pass through the striker strip and both sides of the cover. (Please see scans.)
**NOTE**: Shipping charges are discounted when more than one of my items are purchased at the same time. See what else I have to offer!
