Origin : Handmade in Bali (Indonesia) by our in-house master silversmith How to use? : These toggle-clasp findings are used for necklaces and bracelets. You will receive: - 1 piece toggle ring with an attached “key-hole” part - 1 piece toggle bar with an attached “key-hole” part - 2 pieces “key” parts Simply insert your beading cord (silk or beading wire) at the face / front end of the “key” and make a tight knot on the other end. Now string your beads or pearls. You have the choice to knot between each bead or pearl. After you reached the length of the necklace or bracelet as you require insert your beading cord into the second “key” and make again a tightly knot. Now insert the “key” parts into the “key-hole” parts and rotate clockwise. You can remove the key again if you rotate counter-clockwise. You can test this several times to make sure you have the correct position. To fix /attach the “key” parts permanently into the “key-hole” parts, use jewelers adhesive which you apply gently inside the “key-holes” and on the knot & part of the “key” which will be inside the “key-hole”. Insert the “key” parts again into the “key-hole” parts and rotate clockwise. Check that the position is correct before the adhesive is dry. There should be no adhesive on any visible part. The knots are hidden inside the “key-hole” parts. Let the jewelers adhesive harden for at least 24 hours. Vermeil is a combination of Sterling Silver and Gold commonly used as a component in jewelry. A typical example is Sterling Silver coated with 18K or 24K Gold. To be considered VERMEIL, the gold must be at least 10 karat (42%) and be at least 2.5 micrometers thick. In the US and various other countries, Sterling Silver covered first with a base metal (such as nickel) and than plated with Gold cannot be sold as vermeil without disclosing that it contains base metal. All our Vermeil is 100% free of any nickel. The word "VERMEIL" is a French word which came into use in the English language, mostly in America, in the 19th century as an alternative for the usual term silver-gilt. Vermeil can be produced by either fire-gilding or electrolysis. The original fire-gilding process was developed in France in the mid-18th century; however, France later banned the production of vermeil because over time artisans developed blindness due to mercury involved in the process.
