While Central Javanese Buddhist and Hindu art was influenced by that ofIndia’sgreat Pala Dynasty (7th to 11th century), and Nalandathe great university where the Vajrayana Branch of Mahayana Buddhist cameinto being, it also shows distinct characteristics. From there it wouldtravel around the world including Sumatra, Java, Bali,Nepal, Tibet, China,Korea, Mainland SoutheastAsia and Japan.The face of the Buddha is round and his perfectly shaped body iswrapped in a simple robe, which leaves one shoulder bare.
