Vintage champagne Silk Charmeuse Ballerina Gown by IrisThis elegant vintage is made of the most beautiful champagne silk charmeuse. sleeveless with a gorgeous lace trim bodice with a gathered waist that has an adjustable drawstring, elegant ballerina length ; it is a symphony of feminine fashion.This piece is really in very good to excellent condition, with no real visible flaws except for a few very minor snags on the front of the skirt that get lost into the folds while the dress is on. The silk is very strong, of a good weight and very high quality.one of the seams on on the left side of the gowns skirt has come undone (please see photo)and will need to be stitched back up, it is only the seam and not a rip in the fabric. The stitching on the hem seam is very beautiful, it appears to be hand finished, I have provided a close-up for you, as well as the detail of the French lace trimThis is a very beautiful piece and it is wearable and it would be just as lovely if not more lovely in a wedding trousseau now as it was in the year it was madeFron wiki (about the designer)"Sylvia Pedlar (1901–1972) was an American fashion designer specialising in lingerie.[1] She is the only designer to have won the Special Coty Award more than once, in 1951 and 1964.[1]Born Sylvia Schlang in 1901 in New York, she was an art student at Cooper Union and the Art Students League of New York before marrying William A.
