"Guest of Canada" - Vintage Felt Panel or Pennant - 1950s (?) or earlier
Description: Here's a very interesting fabric pennant or panel that I believe dates to the 1950s or earlier. It is made of blue felt and is printed or painted in red, white and green. Tthe words "Guest of Canada" bracket rough approximations of the crossed flags of Canada and the United States. Decorating the left and right edges are sprigs of maple leaves.
It appears that this panel was once attached to a larger piece, as there are strips of fabric tape stitched to the left and right edges of the panel. This tape has been hand cut along the edges but is still firmly sewn to the felt panel.
There's nothing printed on the back.
Size: approx. 4" x 13"
Condition: Very good, I'd say. There's very little wear to the ink or paint, and the colors are quite bright and fresh. The blue of the felt itself appears to be ever so slightly faded when compared with the shade seen from the back, or perhaps it just acquired some light dust from whatever it was used for.
The panel appears to have been folded in quarters, leaving a noticeable vertical crease in the center, and fainter bends halfway to the left and right edges. Those creases haven't caused any cracking to the felt or design, so I would think they could be carefully pressed out. The fabric tape at the edges is worn.
**NOTE**: Shipping charges are discounted when more than one of my items are purchased at the same time. See what else I have to offer!
