ALEX-CITY MOTEL - Alexander City, Alabama - 1950s(?) Vintage Matchbook Cover
Description: Here's a nice vintage standard-sized matchbook cover from the Alex-City Motel, located on U.S. Highway 280, 2 miles south of Alexander City, Alabama. The motel was "Air Conditioned" and the back of the matchbook carries the "Official AAA" seal of approval. The phone number was given in the old style of "Adams 4-3812".
There's no printing on the inside.
Produced by Mercury Match, Zanesville, Ohio
Actual Size: approx. 2" x 1.5" (closed)
Date: Not dated, but the style of the phone number probably places it in the 1950s, or perhaps early 1960s.
Condition: Good, I'd say. The cover is only slightly soiled but the front is significantly faded. The striker strip shows little or no actual use, but there's noticeable damage to the striker strip area, likely from rough removal of the staple that held the matches. There's also an additional set of staple holes which pass through the striker strip and both sides of the cover. (Please see scans.)
**NOTE**: Shipping charges are discounted when more than one of my items are purchased at the same time. See what else I have to offer!
