THE OUTPOST INN - Columbus, Georgia - Vintage Matchbook Cover
Description: Here's a vintage narrow matchbook cover from The Outpost Inn, a hotel or motel located on U.S. 27 & 280 South in Columbus, Georgia. The back of the cover has a drawing of a fancy old four-horse carriage.
The inside states that the inn has "Exceptional Accommodations for the Traveler".
A "TEN STRIKE" matchbook manufactured by Universal Match Corp. of St.Louis and New York.
Actual Size: approx. 2" x ¾" (closed)
Date: Not dated, but appears to be from the 1950s or 1960s.
Condition: Just good, I'd say. Both sides are somewhat soiled, although the striker stripe doesn't appear to have actually been used. However, there's noticeable damage just above the striker strip, likely from rough removal of the staple that held the matches. There's also a small pin hole that passes through the striker strip and both sides of the cover. (Please see scans.)
