ADAM'S Restaurant & Lounge - Chicago, Illinois - 1950s(?) Matchbook Cover
Description: Here's a standard-sized matchbook cover advertising Adam's, a restaurant and lounge in Chicago, Illinois. It served "Excellent Food" was located at 4810 N. Harlem Ave. and the phone number was "UNderhill 7-9826. This shiny silver and red holiday matchbook featured what appear to be poinsettias on the back and offered "Season's Greetings".
There's no printing on the inside.
Produced by Superior Match Co., Chicago, U.S.A.
Actual Size: approx. 2" x 1.5" (closed)
Date: Not dated, but the old style of the phone number and the use of a postal zone number, would probably place in the 1950s or thereabouts.
Condition: Just good, I'd say. The cover is a bit soiled and the striker shows at least some limited usage. There's also some damage to the striker strip area, likely from the removal of the staple that held the matches, along with an additional tiny pinhole which goes through the striker strip and both sides of the cover. (Please see scans.)
**NOTE**: Shipping charges are discounted when more than one of my items are purchased at the same time. See what else I have to offer!
