This hand painted decanter depicts a European peasant with rosy cheeks and a bushy mustache. His hat is also the stopper. When grasped by the man's protruding elbow, the decanter fits the hand perfectly, with the space between the scarf and his hand a gripping point for the thumb. Unmarked, but very well made. Height: 7½ inches (19.1 cm); width: 5¾ inches (14.6 cm). There is a shallow base chip which does not show when the decanter is at rest. Also, the hat rim has four glaze chips (see close-up photo). These are not chips in the porcelain, but to the glaze. They've been touched up. This condition is reflected in the price. (#4866-CC+)
