Albert Dolan, O.Carm., was born on July 31, 1892 in Fond du Lac Wisconsin. Having entered the Carmelite Order during the world war, he was ordained to the priesthood in 1919, serving first as a teacher of public speaking and English composition at Mount Carmel College in Chicago. It was here, in 1923, that he established the "Little Flower" Society in honor of a recently beatified Carmelite nun, Sister Therese of the Child Jesus. This book was originally published in 1929 under the title of "Collected Little Flower Works." After her canonization, Father Dolan established the eastern shrine of the Society of the Little Flower at Saint Cecilia's Church in Englewood, New Jersey. For many years the Carmelite priest went about the United States and Canada giving lectures about Saint Therese and establishing more shrines in her honor. In all, Father Dolan wrote fifty-three books. Many of these, if not directly biographical, were written to promote Saint Therese's practical doctrine, also known as the "Little Way." Our author also established the Matt Talbot Legion for the reformation of drunkards. Fortified with the sacraments, he died alone, in a hospital bed, in 1951. This book is written about the life of Saint Therese and taken from words written by her sisters, her Mother, her friends and acquaintances, and fellows sisters in the Carmelite Convent.
