  • Description
This semi-porcelain plate with a transfer print of daisies was made by the McNicol China Co. of Ohio. White daisies with yellow centers are surrounded by purple daisies, leaves and ferns in a harmonious spray. The scalloped rim of the plate is hand painted in gold and a thin line of gold borders the floral center. The blank used to produce this plate is the "Carnation" mold, and the backstamp reads, "Carnation / McNicol". Diameter: 8 in. (20.3 cm); depth: 7/8 in. (2.2 cm). Circa 1930's.

The only real problem with this piece is some wear to the gold on the edge of the rim (see photos). There are two small white spots, one on a flower's yellow center and the other on a leaf - these are not wear from use, but flubs made at the time of manufacture. I see some fine knife marks, but they are few and short, and the plate still has a high gloss. Also, there is overall crazing, which is normal for a piece of this age. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs. (#43862-A)

This plate would look great in a china cabinet or on a shelf with other decorative pieces, or better yet, on a wall with other plates in a porcelain 'montage'.
