Description: 1932 PHI UPSILON GAMMA Fraternity - Franklin Union School, BOSTON, Massachusetts - 10K Gold Pin w/ Chain

Here's a tiny 10K gold pin for the Phi Upsilon Gamma fraternity at the Franklin Union School in Boston, Massachusetts. It's a two part pin, with a thin chain joining the two parts. The larger part is in the shape of a shield with the Phi Upsilon Gamma initials on blue enamel, surrounded by what appear to be 14 tiny pearls. The smaller part bears the numeral "32", for the year.

The back of the large portion is marked "10K", the word "BOSTON" (with the "OS" portion enclosed in an elongated "D", which I would guess might be a maker's mark), and what appears to be the word "TOP". Also present are the original student/owner's initials, "D.H.B." There are no markings that I can see on the back of the smaller portion.

Each part of the pin has its own pinback and clasp.

The only info I could turn up on the Phi Upsilon Gamma fraternity is that it was formed on Nov. 4, 1931, by a group of second year chemists and pharmacists at the Franklin Union School. I don't know how long it was in existence.

Actual Size: Main part: approx. 3/8"W x 1/2"H; small portion: approx. 1/4"W x 3/16"H

Condition: Very good, I'd say. The pin is slightly tarnished (I made no attempt to polish it) and shows a little bit of wear, but not much. (Please see my high-res scans.) The chain is intact and firmly attached to both portions. Both pinbacks and locking clasps are in good working order.

**NOTE**: Shipping charges are discounted when more than one of my items are purchased at the same time. See what else I have to offer!
