Likewise, our leathers are shipped rolled and in boxes that we must purchase. This adds to the handling/packing time and the cost of shippingmaterials, however you are assured of receiving your fabric or leather in excellent condition.Images and Color:The tall narrow images which appear first (and sometimes alone) are scans and are the most accurate representations of the color of the fabric. The wider images, if present, are camera photos and are provided only to show overall appearance and scale. They do not necessarily represent color. Please be sure to note any images of diagrams, if provided, as they include important information.Please be aware that not all monitors show colors the same way, and that color isoften subjective.If available, we will always use the designer’s or manufacturer’s color name or number in our description.What does "Railroaded" fabric mean?:Typically fabric is 54" wide from edge to edge. Consider a design that is stripes. If the stripes run across the 54" width of the fabric, the design is considered railroaded. If the stripes run up the continuous length of the fabric, then the design is not railroaded.Similarly if the fabric design is a flower, if it lays across the 54" fabric width rather than being oriented up and down the continuous length, it is a railroaded design. Railroaded fabric designs typically are more efficient for furniture upholstery application but are usually not suitable for drapery.What is a "Custom Backing"?:Typically it is a cotton polyester knit backing that has been bonded to the back of the fabric. It reinforces silks, chenilles and other fabrics for upholstery use. A custom knit backing helps to prevent fraying andseam slippage. It does add a little bulk to the fabric but it does not affect the way the fabric feels or performs.What does "Double Rubs" mean?:Fabric strength is determined by how it rates on a double rub test, which is a back and forth motion that approximates the wear and tear that comes from someone sitting down or getting up from an upholstered seat.3,000double rubs equals one year's worth of use. Here is what the numbers can tell you: #1. If a fabric holds up to more than15,000double rubs it is classified as HEAVY DUTY. #2. MEDIUM DUTY fabric can withstand 9,000 to 15,000 double rubs. #3.
