Hello. I spent nearly 10 years selling on that other site (you can check my feedback there; It's under the same ID as this one; over 3200 positives, 99.7%). But I thought I'd give this new site a try.
Like all of my cds, this is an Original CD, with original inserts (NO CD-Rs or bootlegs).....
...this is an advance issue with full-color front, and alternative backing with band photo and promo details............Experimental garage/pop-rock band Peel is a little bit of everything 'indie-rock' rolled up into one extraordinary package. Their fuzzy guitars and cluttered/muddied production is reminiscent of Pavement, and maybe more accurately, the Elephant 6 Collective. Peel rides high on power-pop antics and busy arrangements drenched in understated hooks, but the formula is bang on. Bright synth lines underscore many of the tracks, providing a foundation for slurred, slacker-rock vocals and a heavy dose of soul. "Sliding Doors" is Peel at their most mellow...and quite surprisingly, their most effective. This self-titled debut isn't a groundbreaking undertaking, but it most certainly is one of the best indie/party-rock records of the summer. A solid 11 songs messed up to near-perfection. For fans of Stephen Malkmus/Pavement, Silver Jews, Guided By Voices, Yo La Tengo, and Everybody Else.
.The debut album from Peel is perhaps the most impressive first effort from any band you'll hear in 2007 — the Austin quartet has created a sure-to-be enduring pop-rock record that begs to be heard. Peel's music is bursting with the kind of loose energy only young bands exude, yet the songs belie a cerebral approach to songwriting and lyrical maturity that usually takes years to discover.
The record plays like a pursuit of the perfect three-minute pop song handicapped by youthful enthusiasm and ADD. Like a bad child, Peel can't write a beautiful song without also giving in to the irresistable compulsion to destroy it with unhinged noise. It's that tension that makes this record so interesting and compelling. These songs are immediate and timeless, nostalgic yet hopeful, teeming with sunny regret. And they f'n rock.
