This was the end of an era in New York City Radio.
This is an unscoped 4 CD aircheck of the final Dan Ingram Show on WABC from May 7, 1982. All during the four hours Dan plays songs and other pieces of the past from all the WABC years, tells a whole lot of stories, gets visits from well wishers and except for the final couple of moments leads one big on air party.
Dan was under the belief that later that summer he would wind up on what was planned to be a satellite delivered syndicated version of WABC what was to have been known as Super Radio. Unfortunately that never came to pass and it would be a couple of years before Dan would return to a daily radio show on 92 WKTU near the end of their run as a Top 40 station.
Just a couple of notes about this item. Most of the newscasts and traffic reports are scoped out. There was also a dead spot on the tape that served as the source for this CD set. The 5:30 to 5:50 p.m. segment has also been left out due to it's poor sound quality. Otherwise this CD set captures the feelings and sounds of that afternoon.
This is your chance to catch a copy of how it all came to an end for Dan Ingram on WABC after almost 21 years.
Total Time - 3 Hours
