The blood pouring from Call Me for Together's cover victim is hued a thick, hot pink, her facial expression vacant and cool. It's a well-suited image to this debut record from Seattle's The Fitness: the underbelly of the glamorous electro scene runs through here loud and decadent, stains dance floors and back alleys, and just barely hints at the sun coming up on the fin de siecle bacchanalia. From "Gianni V"'s awkward pleas to be electronically stalked by a lover to a "Chauffeur" that disposes of bodies between runs to award ceremonies and coke spots, Together's hard synths and handclaps play like the soundtrack to a Bret Easton Ellis nightmare party. Vampish models with hot pink dripping from their lips and gutter punks looking smashed and smashing: The Fitness revel in electroclash's conventions, and indulge in it's addictive degeneracy.
