李珉宇(李善筠飾)從醫學院畢業後成為一名臨床醫師，生活渾渾噩噩，工作時漫無目的，直至一天急診室某位病患的突然離世令他有所感悟，於是決心成為實習醫生。姜彩仁(黃靜茵飾)是由”利效財團”所屬醫大的五個醫院的繼承人，但本人卻不知道這個事實,她只关心离别的男友。她目中無人，卻與在醫大遇上了救人心切的珉宇，因急診室裡發生的各種緊急故事而展開不一樣的人生。

After spending two years teaching in the country, Lee Min-woo (Lee Seon-gyoon) returns to a city hospital to complete his residency and face his own uncertainties about being a doctor. Free-spirited and goofy, he is jaded about his job and just wants it easy. He is then jolted out of apathy when a traumatic incident forces him to rethink why he wanted to be a doctor in the first place. First-year resident Kang Jae-in (Hwang Jung-eum) comes from a rich family that owns hospitals, but she just simply wants to be a doctor who can support herself and help others. Can they learn to become great doctors in Emergency Department under the guidance of Choi In-hyuk (Lee Seong-min), a famously astute workaholic surgeon who puts his patients before himself?
