Mantolato, or nougat, is a sweet, traditionally made with almonds, honey, sugar and beaten egg whites into a meringue. Its name comes from the Italian word "mandorla", meaning, almond, and the sweet is mainly found on the Ionian Islands and the Cyclades, where the Italian influence was particularly strong. "Citrus" from Chios presents a variation of the mantolato. It uses the mandarins of the island and creates a fluffy nougat, sandwiched between crispy wafer. Enjoy the refreshing aroma of Chios mandarins in this wonderful sweet snack
