Jasminum Nudiflorum
“Winter Jasmine”
Introduction
Jasminum Nudiflorum is a slender, deciduous shrub with arching to scandent green shoots and opposite, pinnate, dark green leaves each divided into 3 oval-oblong leaflets to 3cm (1 ¼ inch) long. Solitary, salverform, bright yellow flowers 2cm (¾ inch) across are produced in the leaf axils before the leaves, in winter and early spring. They can grow up to 3m (10ft) tall and 3m (10ft) wide and are fully hardy.
Cultivation
Outdoors grow in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Under glass grow in loam-based porting compost (J.I. No.2) in bright filtered light, or full light with shade from hot sun. In growth, water freely and apply a low-nitrogen liquid fertilizer monthly; water sparingly in winter.
