GAI-JIN by James Clavell (1993, Hardcover)
Description: GAI-JIN: A Novel of Japan (Hardcover; 1038 pages; approx. 9½" x 6¼" x 2")
From the author: "GAI-JIN, meaning foreigner, is set in Japan, in 1862. It is not history but fiction. Many of the happenings did occur according to historians and to books of history which, of themselves, do not necessarily always relate what truly happened. Nor is it about any real person who lived or is supposed to have lived, nor about any real company. Kings and queens and emperors are correctly named, as are a few generals and other exalted persons. Apart from these I have played with history -- the where and how and who and why and when of it -- to suit my own reality and, perhaps, to tell the real history of what came to pass"
This novel is part of Clavell's "Asian sage", which also includes: Shogun, Tai-Pan, King Rat, Noble House and Whirlwind.
Author: James Clavell
Condition: Very good, I'd say. The covers are just a bit scuffed, with wear and bumping at the edges and corners, but the interior pages are in excellent shape. I don't see any markings or bent corners. It DOES NOT have a dust jacket.
Published: Delcorte Press; 1993
**NOTE**: Shipping charges are discounted when more than one of my items are purchased at the same time. See what else I have to offer!
