You are bidding on this hand painted porcelain punch set made by Jean Pouyat Limoges (1891-1932) and Tressemanes and Vogt Limoges(punch bowl). The set consists of a large pedestal bowl, paw-footed plinth and five cups and saucers decorated with hand painted life-size grapes and strawberries on a graduated background with gold fretwork and flourishes. This set is signed and dated by the artist EFC 1900.
There is no wear to the gold on the handles.The bowl, plinth 4 cups and saucers are perfect. There is one cup with a chip on the inner rim.
The green mark on all pieces but the punch bowl, which is "J.P." over an "L" with the word "France" under the initials, is the mark the Pouyat factory put on pieces to signify that they had made the white porcelain. The punch bowl is marked with the Tressemanes and Vogt mark.
Pouyat, T&V and the other Limoges factories sold vast quantities of their undecorated white wares either to amateur or professional china painters who then decorated them.
