This whimsical medium-size teapot is 100% handmade with clay. It is unglazed and neatly accented with brick wall details, with a mythical "dragonfish" lounging on the lid. The Chinese believe the Dragon signifies auspicious, wealth and prosperity.
A type of fish called Arowana, whose large scales and barbels resemble that of a dragon, is said to be linked and thus the name - Dragonfish. Arowana in itself is very much a highly regarded fish among hobbyists. This antique collectible can be perceived as Yixing-inspired clay teapot, which reportedly was first handcrafted by a monk during Zhengde Emperor (1502-1521) in Yixing, China.
This precious item is a must-have collectible for antique and pottery enthusiasts because of its whimsicality, although one can brew Black or Oolong tea for two to relive the ancient era.
