An original hand painted mandala.
A mandala is a sanskrit (old indian language) word that means "A sacred circle".
Many ancient nations used mandalas for healing throughout the history.
Observing or coloring a mandala works on our meditative brain waves and help us relax and calm down.
THE EARTH ELEMENT:
A mandala with motifs taken from the Moroccan culture.
Morocco and the barbarian culture are symbols of a way
of living connecting and breathing the earth through
movement in the deserts of Sahara, therefore it was only
natural for me to choose this mandala to represent the
earth element.
Parallel to this, there is a try to create harmony between the containing ability of mother earth and the stability and solidity of the earth by drawing soft circles together with
the contrast of sharp angles.
The vibration of the drawing creating the illusion of depth
that makes the viewer feel like if he can roll over to the center of the circle and get embraced by the mother earth.
THE FIRE ELEMENT:
The basis of this mandala is a pentagram.
This is the star identifying with King Salomon.
King Salomon was known as the ruler of the spirits and the magic.
There are evidents for it in the bible, in Jewish “Talmud”, in the book of Josephus Flavius and in the holy Muslim book- the “Koran”.
When you rule the magic you can choose if you use your power for the side of white or for the side of black magic.
The shape of the star, facing with the point upwards, creating human shape: the one point is the head, two sideway points are the hands and the two bottom points are the legs (like in the painting of De Vinci).
I choose the star for the fire element to remind us that like King Salomon, we can choose to use the strength of the fire in order to hit ourselves, to cook our food and to light out night, on one side or as a very distractive power from the other side.
THE AIR ELEMENT:
A mandala using motifs from the nature.
The air is the most basic element for human beings,
it escorts our lives from the very first to the very last moment and we can’t live without it for more than a few minutes.
The reason I choose the butterflies is because of their
short life circle, which reminds me of the short time we can
live without air and of course because they live in the air
and represent the freedom aand lightness of it.
To create the feeling of no weight, I choose the pastel
colors that have the energy of look-through.
The mandala can be hung from each direction to
symbolize the non-direction of the air.
THE WATER ELEMENT:
A mandala with Celtic influence, using the round motifs of a flow – to symbolize the flow of life.
Like the waves that simply flow within each other, so are the elements hugged in themselves, creating a simple complication.
The colors are trying to awaken emotions in the eyes of the viewer and to increase the water energy in the areas where it is missing.
