It took me awhile to decide just exactly what this little animal is...my best guess is a clever puppy or dog who has her work week well under control. Ears and tail and process of elimination got me to that conclusion!
This cute vintage set is different in that it doesn't give you the days of the week as so many designs do...it gives you designated chores and daily "doins"! We'll assume the Sunday one is church, probably the Monday one the wash and Tuesday ironing, but set gives you a bit of flexibility as to cleaning, cooking, gardening, and marketing.
I've wondered if these sweet designs might not have been drawn off from something else...you'll notice that the "P" is reversed in "sprinkle". Feed sacks were evidently used for the towel itself; on every one of them you can still see the small holes where the heavy threads were removed. A few of the towels have a bit of fraying on the hems; I'm leaving that for the buyer to decide whether to leave them time tested or to do minor repairs.
The towels vary a bit in dimensions, from 25-27" wide with one a 31" and mostly 36-37" long. One is a bit more beige than the others...another brand perhaps? A couple have some unobtrusive age spots or stains; I think another trip through Oxyclean would probably remedy that. The set has been freshly laundered and sun dried for freshness.
This sweet set with the busy puppy is a wonderful reminder of a gentler time, one that still tugs at our memories today!
(I'm sorry a couple of my pictures are turned sideways! This has never happened with loading before. Hopefully I can get them "straight up" soon so you can see them properly!)
