ENTRANCE ARBOR 'Grape Vine' Style - V01
Enhance the appearance of your front entrance of your home
Designs With A Difference - Be Noticed and Envied By Your Friends and Neighbours
All working drawings, cutting lists, templates, footing layouts etc. are supplied
Unless requested otherwise, plans will be provided in Metric for Australian sales and Standard for American sales
These full working plans include all dimensions for cutting every component of the Pergola
All angle cuts, all notches, rebates, trenching etc. have all been worked out for you and every dimension is down to the millimeter !
All joint connections are designed using the old fashioned craftsmanship style when true workmanship was the only way to go
All members are notched to allow for solid traditional construction without the use of ugly steel brackets and fixtures, again this is the old traditional way and it looks superior to the way it's done these days.
The construction has been designed using the latest state of the art 3D software to ensure that every part fits correctly
All you have to do is cut each member to the fully dimensioned and detailed drawings provided and then assemble like a jigsaw puzzle

You never know, your suggestion may just get drawn up !
Personal Touch
Components such as the post shoes for fixing to concrete or using a footing in ground are up to the individual to decide on type and design (from your local hardware)
Post moulds and corner brackets can be added to dress up the design, again design and style is the choice of the individual
Adding grooves or flutes to the posts and droppers or can also make a nice touch
Fancy corner brackets can be added to enhance the look even further
Hints and Recommendations
It is recommended that you use either LOSP treated timber (my preference) which comes treated and pre-primed, or other rot and termite proof timber
Use only bolts and screws with a recommended coating for treated timbers to help avoid erosion of the fixings – I prefer to use screws rather than nails, a far better connection and no risk of hammer marks on the timber.
Applying at least 2 coats of paint to all cut ends, notches etc. before you assemble the verandah helps to ensure that not timber is exposed to the elements and thus protecting it further from water rot or termites.
Applying 2 coats to the posts before fixing the optional post moulds and post "build-up" components will also help to protect the timber
A light sanding between coats helps to give a great smooth painted surface
Do as many cuts as possible using a miter saw with a fine tooth blade, this will give a nice straight cut and better surface for painting
Please follow all safety guidelines when using power tools and machinery
Format of Plans
Working design and construction plans will be supplied ready for printing in A4 and/or A3 size for easy printing on most home printers
All plans have been drawn to scale and will print to scale enabling quick dimension check by the builder if required with a scale ruler
Every intricate individual part of the design has been drawn to scale and they are usually on their own sheet
A final component drawing is provided to show the location of all parts

Footings and Ground Levels
All designs are based on a flat and level ground/site. Any variations with the level will need to be taken into account before cutting the posts to length
Footing sizes required can vary depending on your wind zone, terrain category and site location, but usually 400x400x500 deep would suffice
Footing sizes required and/or bolt down bracket type connections are the responsibility of the builder to ensure adequate footing sizes and fixings are used
Council
Please check with your local council if planning and/or building approval is required before commencing construction
You may be required to lodge a small application for planning and building
