This richly colored Floral Tapestry design is adapted from an English tapestry in the collection of the Detroit Institute of Arts in Michigan. The original wool and silk tapestry named "The Passing of Venus" was designed by Edwary Coley Burne Jones and woven by Morris and Company at the Merton Abbey Tapestry Works in England. The millefleur design was taken from the background of this magnificent museum piece.
