This approx. 22x28" Movie Item:

TWISTED NERVE ~ U.S. Half-Sheet Poster NSS# 69/87 -~ NATIONAL GENERAL PICTURES ~ 1969

This poster from the cult-classic psychological horror thriller is in Excellent condition, with minor corner, edge and surface wear. Stored FLAT and OUT-OF-SUNLIGHT since the 70s, the colors are bright and unfaded. Printed on glossy, heavy poster stock, it has NEVER BEEN FOLDED.

This exciting and colorful poster from the controversial suspense film is dominated by a bizarre pop-art colored montage of distored images from the film, including that of mentally-unbalanced star HYWEL BENNETT, who is wielding a hatchet, distressed co-star HAYLEY MILLS and a woman's sagging, lifeless body.

At the bottom left is the film's signature image of a toy duck and a hatchet, accompanied by grisly, child-like poem; this type of image was used extensively for horror films of the period, originating with the classic BABY JANE poster image of a smashed baby-doll's face which was often combined with a poem ("Sister, Sister, Oh So Fair...")

The well-regarded thriller re-teamed MILLS and BENNETT who appeared together in 66's hit film THE FAMILY WAY. It was the focus of some controversy when released because of it's questionable scientific linking of Down Syndrome and criminal behavior (the "twisted nerve" of the title). The film also stars BILLIE WHITELAW and FRANK FINDLAY . Directed by ROY BOULTING , who married his much-younger star HAYLEY MILLS shorty after this film was completed.

The poster includes the following text:

There's some shadowing on the accompanying photo that's not on the actual poster, which is consistently bright from top to bottom.
