Another fine item for aviation, USA ephemera and KLM collectors. Original KLM brochure giving detailed information on travelling to USA in the '50s. A letter from U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower is included, so it effectively dates this brochure to the timespan of January 1953- January 1961; the term of his presidency. Various pricing information given can date it more accurately. How about average dinner price of $2.5 and maximum hotel rate of $20 for a double, air travel for 6 cents per mile on first class?
Approximate size: 9.5 x 22.5 cm folded, 77.0 x 44.2 cm spread out. In English. his is a 16 panel huge brochure with immense information. You can see it scanned in many parts, connected graphically. Issued by National Association of Travel Organizations. Lithographed in U.S.A. by Gaugman Co., Richmond, Virginia. Distributed in Turkey, so a fiscal stamp is affixed to cover the pamphlet advertising tax of the era. The stamp is cancelled with KLM cachet. There should actully be two fiscal stamps but one is missing along with half of the cachet image. In very good condition.
