i like the visual look of this salvia flower, long (tubular) and elegant. they remind me of red chinese firecrackers.

the leaves are just as appealing not just by the shapely look but also the scent. they have pineapple scent as you rub your fingers on them. some say you can smell the musky sage also.

some people like to pick the leaves and dry them up to use in teas and other drinks. they have a nice aroma. soothing and relaxing.

the flowers are sometimes used as garnish to dishes as well. i was told you can pick and actually taste the nectar off the flowers, just as the butterflies and hummingbirds do.

i have a big plant and one typical hummingbird with beautiful bright golden orange colored chest likes to visit and have "drinks" so many times within the day.

very nice plant for landscaping, so attractive! grows to be huge and showy with bright red flowers!
