A collection of Software Packages for small business, where bookings are central to operations. The packages are in two general categories, which are not entirely distinct: Hotel, Motel, and other Real Estate type operations; and other Reservation systems, ticket systems, and resource allocation aids. Packages are most applicable to UNIX/Linux, Windows, or both; however, many are written in Java and should be usable on a broad variety of systems. Copyright 2012 Edition Arnold Kochman. Other copyrights apply,including but not limited to the GNU Public License.Users will need one of the commonly available unzip type utilities, such as PKUNZIP, WinZip, or 7-zip, tar for Linux, etc.Programs are distributed with source, when appropriate, and some programs in C, for example, will have to be compiled. A copy of 7-zip for Windows is included on this CD.The Hotel Management software on this CD can be characterized as either standalone or web based. Standalone packages you simply install and run, possibly after some configuration. However, many are web based, and these systems operate in conjunction with a web server. The web server can be running locally on your desktop machine, or any machine on your local area network, or on a remote host. The packages on this CD can all be installed locally. However, some of them have dedicated servers available that you may use, sometimes on a commercial basis. Linux users will have the Apache web server readily available to them, but for the convenience of Windows users, a Windows version is included on this CD.Please Note. This particular product often attracts the attention of people who are not at all knowledgeable about computers, and for this reason I wish to make a few points very clear. This is not a self installing CD. It contains a variety of packages. Files may need to be copied to your hard disk and possibly expanded from an archive. You will have to perform an installation. You may have to read instructions. You may need to install other software, depending on your situation, such as java, php. If you are not prepared to do these things, perhaps with a little help, please do not buy the product. The various packages are at different levels of maturity and completeness, and I cannot certify that they are all worthwhile for any particular purpose. You will have to judge for yourself.
